IPsec VPN

Build route-based site-to-site IPsec tunnels, understand IKE Phase 1/Phase 2, add routes and policies, and troubleshoot negotiation failures.

IPsec provides confidentiality, integrity, and authentication for traffic across untrusted networks, between sites (site-to-site) or for remote users (dial-up). It uses ESP for payload protection and IKE to negotiate keys. FortiGate supports route-based (preferred) and policy-based tunnels.

Which protocol carries the protected IPsec payload?
