Web filtering runs in flow-based or proxy-based inspection. Flow inspects packets as they stream through — faster, lower latency, fewer features. Proxy buffers and reconstructs the full transaction — more thorough (e.g., content/keyword filtering, safe-search enforcement, more accurate category actions) at some performance cost. The inspection mode is set per-VDOM/policy and determines which web-filter features are available.
